A Glance, An Eon is a YIEON solo exhibition about the contemporary expression of Chinese heritage craft.

What does the exhibition ask?

It is not an exhibition about preserving techniques behind glass. It asks a more immediate question: once a craft enters the present, what can it become?

How does YIEON translate heritage into contemporary jewellery?

At YIEON, the answer is not one material, one collection or one visual symbol. Lacquer, mother-of-pearl and filigree each carry their own histories, surfaces and ways of being made. Through design, they become part of a shared contemporary language—jewellery with visual presence, material character and a place in everyday life.

What does “A Glance, An Eon” mean?

The glance is the first encounter: a colour, a line, a flash of light, a form that feels unmistakably its own. The eon is what unfolds afterwards: the time held in a material, the knowledge held in a technique, and the cultural memory carried into a new object.

Can heritage and modernity exist in the same piece?

YIEON does not ask people to choose heritage over modernity. We believe the two can exist in the same piece. A work can be rooted in a specific craft tradition while remaining direct, wearable and relevant to how people live now.

The exhibition brings that belief into space. Across different works, visitors encounter more than individual techniques. They encounter a design method: heritage is not treated as a fixed image of the past, but as a living resource for contemporary aesthetics and personal choice.

Every YIEON piece begins with a visible proposition of beauty. Its deeper story is there to be discovered, not imposed.

In that movement—from first sight to lasting recognition—craft finds a new place in the present.
